BioTissue Appoints Ophthalmic Industry Leader Chris Calcaterra to Board of Directors

Addition Brings Proven Commercial Expertise as BioTissue
Advances Its Ocular Health Strategy

MIAMI, August 24, 2026—BioTissue, a leader in regenerative healing across the ocular surface disease continuum, today announced the appointment of ophthalmic industry veteran Chris Calcaterra to its Board of Directors.

Calcaterra joins the board as an independent director, bringing decades of experience across ophthalmology, medical technology, commercial strategy, physician engagement, market expansion, and board governance. He is widely recognized for his tenure as Chief Operating Officer of Glaukos Corporation, where he helped scale the company from an emerging ophthalmic innovator into a publicly traded organization.

“BioTissue has been purposeful in sharpening our focus on ocular health and addressing ocular surface disease, positioning our business for the next phase of growth,” said Ted Davis, President and CEO of BioTissue. “To support this evolution, we are committed to bringing together experts with deep industry expertise and a strong understanding of what it takes to drive innovation and physician adoption. Chris has an exceptional track record in ophthalmology and will provide valuable perspective as we expand our impact in eye care.”

“After a rewarding career in ophthalmology, I look forward to continuing to invest my time and experience where I can make a meaningful difference to patients,” said Calcaterra. “I believe BioTissue has a strong foundation and a clear opportunity to advance ocular health, and I’m excited to contribute my experience as the company moves forward.”

Calcaterra’s appointment comes as BioTissue expands its focus on ocular health, including through the launch of CAM360 AmnioGraft™, a shelf-stable cryopreserved amniotic membrane designed to help promote healing in superficial eye conditions. The company’s divestiture of its surgical business further positions it to focus on solutions for ocular surface conditions. These efforts build on BioTissue’s history in ocular surface disease and its focus on providing eye are professionals with solutions designed to support treatment and improve patient outcomes.
