The Sensitivity Test That Changed the Treatment Plan

This 70-year-old patient’s left eye had been through a traumatic cataract surgery years ago & glaucoma followed.

The chronic symptoms are what wore him down…

  • Constant foreign body sensation, ongoing redness, irritation, & photophobia
  • Cornea marked by 3 to 4+ central PEE

He tried everything… preservative-free tears, warm compresses, plugs, lifitegrast, & cyclosporine. Nothing made a lasting difference.

Through sensitivity testing, Dr. Ahmad was able to discover reduced corneal sensitivity (OS) & placed a Prokera®.

In March 2025, Dr. Ahmad initiated a pulse treatment of CAM360 AmnioGraftTM, a ringless Cryopreserved Amniotic Membrane (CAM) solution, frequently used as a treatment option for Stage 1 NK & mild to moderate Dry Eye Disease.

Results:

  • Improved staining to 1 to 2+ PEE.
  • 3-month follow-up: some regression to 2 to 3+, but still far better than baseline.

Most importantly, symptoms eased, and the patient reported improved vision, comfort, and hope for the first time in years.

Dr. Ahmad credits corneal sensitivity testing & patient’s ocular history as keys to choosing the right solution—CAM360 AG.
